Dundee 2-2 Rangers: Callum Jones scores second-half equaliser as Rangers miss chance to replace Celtic at top of Scottish Premiership

Callum Jones scored a second-half equaliser as Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw by Dundee and missed the chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership.

Dundee opened the scoring when Rangers failed to deal with a routine long ball, with Bradley Fink capitalising to round the goalkeeper and slide home.

The lead did not last long, though, as Badredine Bouanani cut inside and curled in a stunning equaliser to open his account for Rangers.

Nico Raskin scored the goal of the game when his shot from outside the area went in off the underside of the crossbar.

But Jones then caught Dan Neil dwelling on the ball and nicked it off the Rangers captain to slot home the Dundee equaliser.

Rangers remain second and move one point behind Celtic, who host Hearts live on Your Site on Sunday from 2.30pm.

8: BLOCKED! Kim has a shot blocked with the goal gaping. Rangers cry for handball but nothing doing.

14: SHOT! Forrest drives from midfield and shoots from the outside of the area, but Pandur gathers comfortably.

23: SHOT! Hay has a speculative shot and again it's saved comfortably by Pandur.

28: SAVE! Hamilton whips a free kick across and Astley heads towards goal from outside of the area tipped behind by Pandur.

29: OFF THE BAR! Hay leaps to meet the corner and it rattles the bar.

36: CLOSE! Hamilton takes an early shot after Dundee win the ball back and it goes just wide.

37: GOAL! Fink rounds the goalkeeper and scores!

42: GOAL! Bouanani curls into the top corner for his first goal for Rangers!

56: SAVE! Gassama shoots from the edge of the area, and it's saved one-handed by the 'keeper

60: GOAL! Nico Raskin scores a screamer off the bar from outside of the area.

69: GOAL! Neil dwells on the ball and is dispossessed by Jones who slots past the goalkeeper to get Dundee level!

74: CLOSE! Ball falls to Neil in the six-yard box but Dundee somehow scramble the ball clear!

Rangers boss Derek McInnes:

"I thought Dundee's press was good, as expected, and we wanted to try and draw the centre-backs out at times and try and hit spaces and feed our wide players and try and get 1v1.

"It never quite materialised.

"We shouldn't need to come away from home and need to score three goals to win a game.

"Two goals should have been enough tonight. We had a few chances when it went to two each.

"Dundee are a good team, but I think we gifted an opportunity there not to take all three points.

"We're disappointed not to come away with three points."

Dundee boss Steven Pressley:

"I think it was a game of two halves.

"I thought we were outstanding in the first half, really aggressive, controlled a lot of the game.

"We were really strong on second balls, had one or two moments where we should have capitalised and restricted Rangers to very little.

"We obviously expected a reaction from Rangers and they gave that reaction. They put us under a lot of pressure in the second half.

"We showed grit and determination.

"The game was getting away from us but we never gave up, we kept going and going and (Callum) Jones got his reward for a really strong performance today."

Your Site' Kris Boyd:

"Dundee are a good team. They're not there [in the table] by fluke or luck.

"They've got a style of play, Steven Pressley has got a group of players willing to run themselves into the ground for him and that's hard to get.

"They put in a shift and even when they're asked to dig in and suffer like they did for the first 20/25 minutes of that second half.

"They then got a second wind and came back at Rangers and asked questions of them.

"A draw was a fair result. It took wonder strikes to get Rangers two goals.

"There was a lack of creativity at the top end of the pitch and it's something they're going to have to improve."
